Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 23, 2026

This policy covers the Berth mobile app for iPhone and Android (“the app”), published by Aleksandr Litvinenko (“we”). Questions: lialex2016@gmail.com.

The short version

Berth is a player for a Berth server that you, your family or someone you trust runs. Your books, your library and your listening progress live on that server — not with us. The app has no accounts with us, no ads, no advertising identifier and no tracking.

The only data that reaches us is crash and performance reports, used to fix bugs.

Data that goes to your Berth server

When you connect the app to a server — with a QR code, a pairing code or a login and password — and while you use it, the app sends to that server:

This server is operated by its owner, not by us. We have no access to it or to the data on it. Its owner decides how long the data is kept and who can see it.

Data we receive: crash and performance reports

Release builds of the app send reports to Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.), stored in Sentry's EU region (Germany), when the app crashes or an error occurs, plus timing data on how long screens and requests take. A report contains the error and stack trace, the app version, the operating system version, the device model, timing data and a random installation identifier that is not linked to your name or e-mail.

We use these reports only to find and fix bugs. We do not sell them, do not share them for advertising and do not combine them with data from other sources. Reports are deleted automatically after at most 90 days.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and collects no data that identifies a child. Crash reports contain no names, e-mail addresses or library contents.
